About Me.
My name is Richard Ainsworth, but people call me Dickie.
As I’ve mentioned on my homepage, I’m an integrative therapist with areas of focus including anxiety, identity, family and relationship issues, trauma and burnout. I take an approach that blends Psychodynamic, Gestalt, Attachment Theory, Humanism and Somatic therapies.
I meet people face to face in North/East London and also online.
Although the work of therapy is challenging, I believe in bringing all parts: the good, the bad, and the ugly, with a smattering of playfulness and sometimes joy. Hence, my logo.
I identify as a cis white gay man and have over 20+ years of experience working in and being part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Life before therapy.
Before training, I spent over 20 years working in London across corporate settings, the music industry, and the charity sector. As a queer person, I bring lived experience and broad cultural insight to my therapeutic work.
My practice integrates growing up in rural England and moving to the bright lights of the big city back in the noughties. My clinical training offers thoughtful, inclusive support for those navigating our complex world. I work with clients to bring all parts of themselves, creating space for a fuller, more expansive life.
